As I live my life and grow up, I have turned to quotes to get me through hard times . “Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood” is my favorite quote. This defies my life. Every day is a new day and I never want to let a day pass by without appreciating my life. A huge part of growing up is being faced with many struggles and even pressure from others. I am put in many situations where I have to make my own choices. Some people may try to lead me in the right direction and even the wrong direction, but I can’t rely on anyone to help me. I need to experience life, and along the way, I know I will make a hundred more mistakes that may hurt me at the time. But in the end, each opportunity I take, makes me the person I am. The only way to live is to experience even if it’s the hard way.
Lately, I’ve noticed I could be doing things a lot differently when it comes to school. I strive to be an above average student and to get the grades I want and deserve. To achieve this standard, I put in a large sum of time and dedication into my work. It’s an accomplishment to get such good grades, and I feel proud of myself. Regardless of this feeling, I have seen a little decrease in the effort I put into my work, and I need to change this. I wouldn’t want one slip up to change all my grades. So to get myself motivated and back on track to becoming a better student, I have come up with five things I can improve on.
1. I will study each night for a minimum of twenty minutes. By studying each night, I gain an even better understanding of what we did in class that day, which will only benefit me in the long run. When it comes down to the test, It won’t be as necessary to study as long and hard since I have been learning the information each night. This will allow me to have more free and time and less stressful about the test.
2. I will look over my work more carefully. Many times I make careless mistakes that could easily be avoided if I had checked my work. I get lazy when taking tests or doing homework that I don’t feel like going through my answers again. If I take the time to look over my results, I will certainly get better grades and become even closer to a better student.
3. I will ask more questions when necessary. By asking teachers or friends questions, I will understand clearly what I do know and what I don’t know. This allows me to get more attention from my instructor and shows how dedicated I am to learning. I want to be all I can be and this step will help achieve my goal.
4. I will go with my first instinct when choosing answers on a test. During tests, I get nervous and I begin to blank out. My mind races and I forget even the simplest information. Numerous times I know the answer and mark it down, but I analyze the rest of the choices which causes me to double think my answer. I know I should always go with my first thought considering it’s usually right, but when I change the answer, I feel more confident. Due to this habit, I get all those questions wrong that I had right at one point. I need to learn my lesson and stop changing my answers when I feel they’re right.
5. I will set goals to accomplish. I am a very organized person, and by having goals, I stay on track. When I want something, I never stop until I achieve it. I want to be a better student, so by taking these considerations and acting upon them, I will become a better student.
Ever since I was a little girl I have wanted to be a pediatrician. Becoming a doctor has always been my goal. First of all, I love children. They bring such excitement and joy into the world. They are the future of the world. To work with kids all day is my dream. I am very friendly and sociable, so being around people all day is my type of field. Secondly, I find such joy in helping others and helping to make their lives better. What is nicer than benefiting someone with the work I can do? Also, the money aspect is amazing. Pediatricians generally make around $140,000 a year. I could be rich and successful. It would certainly be a positive to be making this much money. I could get my dream house and travel around the world like I have always wanted to do.
I want nothing more than becoming successful. I want to be proud of myself and I want my parents to be happy for what I will become. By achieving my goal, I will know I have made it in life. I will not give up until I accomplish my dream. I can see myself in twenty years having a great life due to the medical field and my hard work. To achieve my goal, I know I will have to work hard and never give up. I will need to go to school for approximately twelve years. This may seem unbearable to me now, but I know it will pay off, and I will never regret my decision. Studying every night and doing lots of homework will be my main focus. Truly, I know I can do it. When I want something, I never stop until I reach my destination.
Honestly, I would like to say I don’t need a back up plan because I will achieve my goal. But in reality, I need to be safe and have a net to catch me. If I do not become a pediatrician, I would like to be a teacher. Teachers are somewhat similar to doctors. They both need to be friendly and caring with others and also they are taking the time to change someone’s life. It may not be apparent to the students at the time, but when they get older, they will realize that they teachers they dealt with helped make them the person they now are. The information learned can be helpful in their life, and they will one day thank their teachers. This will also give me the opportunity to work around children. I would be happy becoming a teacher, but I would be completely satisfied if I became a pediatrician. This has always been my life long goal, and I hope to accomplish it. I want to show everyone that I can rise above the struggle and make it. Proving myself would be the best feeling and reward.
To make the ultimate sacrifice for my country I would need my family behind me. My family means more to me than anything, and I would do whatever necessary to be there for them. It would be my goal to take care of them and make sure they’re safe. I have the devotion to sacrifice everything for them because they have always been there for me. I know it may not be what I truly want, but I would be wiling to do it. Risking my life may seem like a scary choice now, but I know further down the line, I would never regret my choice. I know they would be supportive of me, and that would keep me going with my head held high. Having my family and loved ones behind me would motivate me to make the ultimate sacrifice for my country.
God forbid, but if my house burnt down I would be devastated. I am so thankful to have a roof over my head to provide me shelter, food to eat, and a loving family. Sometimes we are not thankful for what we have, even though we all know we should be. We live in a society where possessions mean more to us than we think. Wanting to have the latest and newest cell phone even proves how materialistic we are. If we lose a cell phone, break an ipod, or stain our brand new Hollister clothing we go crazy and get very upset. Don’t get me wrong, I love my phone and ipod, but to me, my friends and family mean more to me than my objects. The truth is, all these objects can be replaced, but a person cannot.
The thought of losing a family member or a closed loved one upsets me beyond belief. A life cannot be replaced, and it should never be taken for granted. Each and every one of us are lucky to be given this life to live. I have learned to make the best of each day because God only knows how long it will last. With the blink of an eye, a life can be taken from us. That is why I have learned to appreciate the good and even the bad in life. I let my closest friends and family know how much I love and need them. Let’s face it, without them we would not be the people we want to be. My parents have given me a great life and supported me through everything. Without them, I would not have turned out this way, and I would be so lost in life. I always let them know how much I love them and need them. Never take life for granted and enjoy each day you are alive to live.
Personally, I believe the perfect relationship would be created by finding a person that has a great personality. Personality is the main feature needed in a good relationship. You need to be able to connect on all levels such as being able to discuss news, sports, plans, and even random topics. The perfect couple would consist of people that are fun and spontaneous. Being able to do adventurous things to spice up the relationship and try all sorts of new things is important. Besides, you wouldn’t want to be with a person who is boring. Trust is probably the first and most important factor to go into a relationship. If you can’t trust your significant other, you will not progress in the relationship. Love comes in all forms and you know you are in love when you can’t stop thinking about the other person and they mean the world to you. Being without them is impossible to think about. They stay on your mind no matter what you’re doing. You want to spend every moment possible with them. When they kiss or hug you, you still get butterflies. Affection is also important. Being able to show your love for one another keeps the relationship true and honest. Having respect for each other is key. You need to be able to understand each other’s situations and show that you care. The love never dies and the relationship always feels new and exciting. Every relationship faces struggles and fights, but regardless, true love will endure the problems. The love will rise above and keep the relationship connected.
My favorite reading strategy would have to be rereading. I believe reading what you previously read is very helpful. The first time I read through an article, I read to see what I will be learning about. The second time or other numerous times I read through an article, I read for comprehension. I read to understand and gain new information from the text. I usually use the rereading strategy when I am studying for school and reading the text books. Due to rereading, I gain a better understanding of the topic we are learning in class.
